The History of Sew Crafty
12 years ago Maidenhead’s Sewing Centre was under threat of closure as the previous owners decided it was time to retire. Luckily for the residents of the town, long time employee Judith Marsh-Brown and her daughter Samantha Claridge couldn’t bear to lose their favourite shop and took the decision to take it on. The professional advice available combined with an amazing range of products in such a small space was what the family run business claimed as its secret to success. Twelve years later, a name change, and a move over to an online only shop – the business is still going as strong as ever.
The mother and daughter team bring a unique view on the stock range, Judith has over 50 years of sewing experience under her belt and helps to keep self-confessed ‘craft junky’ Samantha on track when buying new products. The last three years have seen a resurgence in the craft sewing market and a more craft orientated range of 100% cotton print fabrics have been introduced bridging the gap between classic dressmaking and craft sewing. With a range of ribbons, trimmings and buttons to rival bigger London stores and a comprehensive range of classic haberdashery, Sew Crafty has everything for sewers and crafters of all abilities.
